I'm not familiar with this controller, but on most RAID systems, this would probably mean that the drive is defective or the controller believes the drive is defective. Drives in a RAID are usually held to a higher standard of perfection by the controller than they would be on a standard controller, so it's possible that you could even test the drive on a standard controller and it would pass, yet it will fail in the RAID. Not knowing any more than I do about this controller, I would suggest trying a different drive. Hope this helps!
